Suggestion: Evolve past binary voting

1

When I find myself around people who live in binary (yes/no, good/bad, now/never, happy/sad, male/female) I can't get away quick enough.

See www.Represent.me and Loomio.org for examples of much more rich (and ultimately more human) range of options to respond to a proposal or idea. I feel hopelessly caged and immediately 100% turned off this platform seeing my complex emotions and wealth of experience reduced to "for" or "against".
At the same time, I hugely admire and respect the huge amount of time and love than has gone into this platform. I think I would just say look at how (most, maybe not all) consent-based decision making groups have conversations that being up new information and better proposals that never would've been thought up without people willing to listen and learn before rushing into a For or Against.
I don't want the response to this feeling I'm sharing to be a For or Against - I want to know first how you feel when reading this.

I agree. There are times when a person will want to create a suggestion with variables, such as "Spend $n on a [TV / Radio / Google / Facebook] advert to warn the world about climate change." The way the system currently works, a user will have to create multiple suggestions like a game of 20 questions in order to get it right. Currently, however, Democratic Intelligence does allow a user to ask questions first, so they could get a fair idea of what other users want, before creating their suggestion.

I want to add a point, not an 'argument' !
I underestimated this platform a bit/ didn't look through it as well as I could've and wanna recognise that. Still stand by most of what I said, but can see the design here is unusual and pretty isightful I think re: the voting isn't rushed into. Also love the Volunteers element.
Have you reached out to Represent.Me? My mate Alex is Lead Dev there but I think this platform covers some of the shortfalls I see in the generally much further along/ at least more pretty looking Represent. Perhaps you'd make a pretty sweet team if that could work somehow!
